Last month, the Lagos State Police Command’s Special Squad Unit foiled a kidnap attempt at Ladipo Market, Mushin, Lagos. During the operation, nine kidnappers were killed, while two others escaped with gunshot wounds.
Initially, only one of the kidnappers was identified—Prince Henry Odenigbo, a Nollywood actor and producer. Odenigbo, who worked with many famous names in the industry, was known for often thanking God for his success on Instagram. Shockingly, four others killed in the raid were also involved in the film industry.
Recently, another member of the gang was identified through CCTV footage. The man, known as Uzoamaka, was seen in the footage scouting the area before the gang attempted the kidnapping at Ladipo Market. His role was crucial, as he ensured the coast was clear for the operation.
The investigation, led by CSP Kehinde Oni, uncovered a staggering 42 case files linked to the gang across various police stations in Lagos. This highlighted the gang’s widespread criminal activities, including a previous kidnapping where they extorted ₦68 million from a wealthy female supermarket owner in Ago Okota.
Uzoamaka was known for his exceptional shooting skills, and during the Ladipo Market raid, he fired the first shot when the gang’s escape was blocked. The shot, meant to intimidate, narrowly missed a police officer.
Despite the ongoing investigation, families of the deceased kidnappers have been reluctant to come forward. The police are determined to uncover the full extent of the gang’s operations and bring everyone involved to justice.
Stay updated as the police continue their efforts to reveal the truth behind this notorious gang.
