Burna Boy Mocks South Africans After White Contestant Wins Miss SA Following Chidinma Adetshina’s Withdrawal

Nigerian music star Burna Boy has added his voice to the ongoing discussion around the recent Miss South Africa pageant, where Mia Le Roux, a white South African, was crowned the winner. This year’s pageant was particularly notable due to the controversy that led to the withdrawal of another contestant, Chidinma Vanessa Adetshina.

Chidinma, a 23-year-old law student, entered the competition with high hopes. Her father is Nigerian, and her mother is South African of Mozambican descent. However, her participation was met with skepticism from some South Africans, who questioned whether she was genuinely a citizen of the country. This prompted the South African Department of Home Affairs to investigate her background. Their findings suggested that the identity of a South African mother may have been stolen by Chidinma’s mother, which eventually led Chidinma to step back from the competition.

Amidst this controversy, Mia Le Roux, a model from the Free State, emerged as the new Miss South Africa. Mia made history by becoming the first Miss SA winner who is deaf and relies on a cochlear implant. Her victory is also significant as she will be the first contestant with such a disability to represent South Africa at the Miss Universe 2024 competition in Mexico. Along with the Mowana crown, Mia received a fully furnished apartment, a Mercedes Benz, R1 million, and other valuable prizes.

Following the announcement of Mia’s win, Burna Boy took to social media with a brief yet pointed reaction, writing “So after all that,” accompanied by laughter emojis. His comment seemed to highlight the dramatic events leading up to Mia’s victory.

Mia’s achievement marks a notable moment in the pageant’s history, while Chidinma’s withdrawal remains a topic of discussion across social media.
