Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing, founded by Innocent Chukwuma, is stepping up to support Nigeria’s shift towards more affordable and sustainable transportation. After a recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Chukwuma announced that Innoson is set to supply Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered buses across the country.
Chukwuma highlighted the benefits of CNG, describing it as the future of transportation in Nigeria. He mentioned that his company had already begun producing CNG-powered vehicles before the government’s initiative, showing how forward-thinking Innoson has been. “CNG is the best idea for transportation in this country,” he said. “It offers many advantages, and I believe everyone will see its benefits once they start using it.”
This announcement follows President Tinubu’s recent nationwide address, where he laid out plans to distribute one million CNG kits at little or no cost to commercial vehicles. These vehicles, which use up to 80% of the country’s imported fuel, will now have a more sustainable and cost-effective alternative with CNG.
The President emphasized the importance of reducing Nigeria’s reliance on imported petrol, which drains the country’s resources. By switching to CNG, Nigeria can save over N2 trillion a month and redirect these funds to vital sectors like healthcare and education.
Innoson’s partnership with the government in promoting CNG vehicles is a significant step forward in this plan, promising a brighter and more sustainable future for Nigeria’s transportation sector.
