In a heartbreaking incident, the 10-year-old grandson of Yobe State Deputy Governor, Hon. Idi Barde Gubana, has tragically passed away. On August 6, 2024, Lawan Idris Ahmad suffered severe third-degree burns after accidentally pouring hot water on himself.

Despite immediate medical attention at the University Teaching Hospital Damaturu, he succumbed to his injuries early that morning.

The funeral was held the same day at the Deputy Governor’s residence. It was led by Ustas Hudu Mohammed Yusuf, the Chief Imam of Yobe Mosque and Islamic Center Damaturu.

The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including members of the state House of Assembly, the Secretary to the State Government, and local emirs.

The special adviser on religious affairs, Ustas Babagana Mallan Kyari, and the Chief Imam offered prayers for the deceased, hoping for him to be granted Jannatul Firdausi.

The community gathered to pay their respects and show support to the grieving family.
