In recent operations, the Nigerian Army has achieved important victories against Boko Haram. On August 4, 2024, troops captured two Boko Haram commanders, Bana Yamode and Babagana Usman, who had infiltrated the Damasak Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp. These commanders had previously led attacks on troops in the area.

In addition, two logistic suppliers for Boko Haram, Mallam Mustapha Ismaila and Abdulmudalabi Haruna, were arrested, and two minors were rescued during the operation. Over 50 Boko Haram suspects and their families have also surrendered to troops in Bama, Gwoza, and Dikwa Local Government Areas, thanks to intensified military actions.

In Yobe State, troops arrested three Boko Haram collaborators at Gubio Market, who admitted to involvement in kidnappings and armed robberies. The items recovered include two motorcycles and several mobile phones.

In Kogi State, a notorious kidnapper, Mohammed Bello, was arrested. He was part of a seven-man syndicate known for kidnapping citizens. Troops also rescued a kidnapped former Chairman of Kabba Local Government Area and captured one of the suspects.

In Ebonyi State, troops stopped a kidnapping attempt in Ezza-Umuhuali Village, arresting a suspect with an ATM card, 48 international passports, and other items. Troops in Jigawa State arrested nine looters in Kazaure town, recovering various items including bags of fertilizer and motorcycles.

In Plateau State, troops arrested five suspected cultists and recovered a locally made pistol and a cartridge. They also caught a suspect involved in motorcycle theft at Kara Market in Jos North.

Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff, praised the troops for their dedication and success in capturing key Boko Haram figures, arresting their suppliers, rescuing victims, and recovering stolen goods. He encouraged the public to support security efforts with reliable information.
