Frank Lucio Carillo, a Virginia resident, has been charged in federal court for making severe threats against Vice President Kamala Harris and other high-profile officials. Carillo’s charges stem from a series of alarming posts on the right-wing social media platform, Gettr.
According to court records, the FBI uncovered 4,359 posts from Carillo, targeting a range of public figures, including Harris, President Joe Biden, and FBI Director Christopher Wray. Among these posts, Carillo allegedly made numerous threats of extreme violence against Harris. In one particularly disturbing post, he purportedly threatened to “cut out” Harris’s eyes and wished her a “slow agonizing death,” referring to her with derogatory language.
Carillo’s posts were not limited to threats against Harris. He also made disturbing statements targeting other officials and individuals. Notably, in 2023, Carillo posted Islamophobic content, encouraging violence against Muslims, saying they should be “killed with guns.”
When FBI agents visited Carillo’s home to investigate these posts, Carillo confessed that the agents were there about his online activities. During the interaction, he expressed his need for a lawyer, indicating his awareness of the serious nature of the charges. Federal agents seized two firearms from his residence: a pistol bought in 2023 and a rifle purchased earlier this year.
Carillo’s case highlights the increasing concern over threats and violent rhetoric on social media platforms and the serious legal consequences that can follow such actions.
