Police and DSS Harassing Protesters in Abuja, Says Activists Sowore

Activists Omoyele Sowore and Deji Adeyanju have raised alarms over the harassment of protesters by the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja. The EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest, now in its third day, has seen participants gathering at the MKO Abiola Stadium to voice their dissatisfaction with the country’s hardships.

Sowore took to X (formerly Twitter) to report that police had arrived at the protest site to attack activists. He also mentioned that DSS operatives, along with government-sponsored thugs, were on their way to do the same.

Deji Adeyanju confirmed Sowore’s claims, stating that police were indeed harassing protesters at the stadium. The nationwide protest began on Thursday, with many Nigerians expressing their frustrations over the worsening conditions in the country. Reports indicate that protesters have been manhandled by police across various locations, with some incidents resulting in deaths.
