Nigerian singer Paul Okoye, famously known as one half of the music duo Psquare, has recently opened up about a startling incident involving his twin brother and former bandmate, Peter Okoye. In a candid interview with City 105.5FM, Paul disclosed that Peter had him arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in December 2023.

Paul recounted that his arrest stemmed from a petition filed by Peter regarding his financial activities. The EFCC detained Paul and subjected him to intense questioning, presenting his account statements and threatening him with a potential 20-year prison sentence. The officials were particularly concerned about specific payments made into Paul’s account, which his brother claimed he had not received, despite their partnership as Psquare.

The EFCC questioned why Paul’s account had a deposit of approximately $200,000, which Peter alleged he did not receive. Paul explained that the difference was due to their distinct spending habits; while Peter spent his earnings on luxury items, Paul preferred to save his money, leading to a higher balance in his account.

After a thorough investigation, the EFCC cleared Paul of any fraudulent activities. However, despite a recent family meeting where Paul was declared innocent, Peter has not yet apologized for the false accusations. Paul chose to speak out about the incident to safeguard his professional reputation and the integrity of the brands he works with.
