A sad and puzzling story has emerged from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Lindsay and Nick Jordan, a couple from Reno, Nevada, were found dead in their hotel room while on vacation. They had traveled to Mexico to celebrate Lindsay’s 46th birthday with friends.

The couple was last heard from through shared photos and messages, showing their excitement for the trip. When they didn’t show up for planned activities, their friends went to their room to check on them. Hotel staff and police then informed the friends that the couple had been found dead.

Authorities in Mexico suspect that drugs might be involved in their deaths. However, their son, Deven Simms, has found inconsistencies in the reports and is doubtful about this theory. He mentioned that his father didn’t drink and questions whether an overdose could be the cause. Because the authorities don’t consider the deaths suspicious, an independent autopsy in the U.S. isn’t possible.

Deven, along with his siblings Haley, 19, and Sammy, 12, are left trying to make sense of their loss.
