An unsettling incident occurred today at Buni Yadi market in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, Nigeria. At approximately 12:30 pm, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonated in the bustling market area, causing significant alarm among residents.
According to local reports and confirmed by Captain Muhammad Shehu, spokesperson for the Sector 2 Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai, the explosion was caused by an IED that had been planted in the market. Thankfully, initial reports indicate that this was not a suicide bombing.
The explosion injured a young girl, who was immediately taken to a local health facility in Buni Yadi for treatment. Her current condition is being monitored by medical staff, and authorities are working to ensure she receives the necessary care.
In addition to the explosion, the military discovered another IED planted in the market. Quick action by the Army led to the safe detonation of this device, preventing further potential harm.
