Former President Donald Trump has called for FBI Director Christopher Wray to resign. This demand came after Wray expressed doubts about whether Trump was actually hit by a bullet during an attack at a Pennsylvania rally. The incident, which was broadcast live, showed a gunman opening fire, resulting in the death of a firefighter and injuries to two others, including Trump.
During a Congressional update on the attack, Wray discussed security lapses that allowed the shooting to occur. He questioned the claims that Trump was hit by a bullet, despite Trump’s detailed accounts and visible bandage over his ear. Trump described how he heard bullets whizzing by and was bleeding from a graze on his ear.
Initial reports suggested Trump might have been hit by glass shards when a bullet struck the teleprompter, but this was debunked as the teleprompters were undamaged. Conspiracy theories have since emerged, accusing the FBI of plotting against Trump.
In the hearing, Wray was also asked about President Biden’s cognitive health, to which he responded that he hadn’t observed any issues. This further angered Trump, who took to Truth Social to demand Wray’s immediate resignation, accusing him of lying to Congress and failing to recognize Biden’s alleged cognitive decline.
