The Nigerian military has issued a stern warning to the organizers of an upcoming nationwide protest over the country’s economic difficulties. Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, addressed the press in Abuja, stressing that any form of violence would not be tolerated.
While acknowledging citizens’ right to peaceful protest, Major General Buba cautioned against using the demonstration as a cover for chaos. He drew a parallel with recent violent protests in Kenya, suggesting that the current plans could lead to similar unrest.
“The military will not allow our nation to fall into anarchy,” he warned, emphasizing that they are prepared to take action to prevent any disorder.
