Peter Obi, a former presidential candidate from the Labour Party, has urged the Federal Government to support the Dangote Refinery. He believes the refinery is crucial for Nigeria’s economy and overall well-being.
Obi’s comments came after Aliko Dangote, the owner of the refinery, mentioned that the government was not cooperating with him. As a result, Dangote is considering selling the refinery.
In a series of posts on Tuesday morning, July 23, Peter Obi pointed out that the refinery has the potential to generate $21 billion in annual revenue. It could also create over 100,000 jobs and help solve the country’s fuel crisis, making it a vital asset for the government to support.
Dangote also shared that a wealthy friend had warned him against starting the refinery project and is now mocking him for the difficulties he is facing.
Obi emphasized that Dangote’s success is closely tied to Nigeria’s success. If the refinery fails, it would be a major setback not just for Nigeria but for the entire African continent.
