APC Urges Edo House of Assembly to Impeach Governor Obaseki

The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the State House of Assembly to start impeachment proceedings against Governor Godwin Obaseki. This comes after a video surfaced in which Obaseki allegedly threatened to burn down Nigeria if the killers of Inspector Akor Onuh, who was attacked at Benin Airport last Thursday, are not apprehended.

Emperor Jarret Tenebe, the Acting Chairman of the APC in Edo State, made this statement in Benin City. He criticized the governor’s threat as reckless and dangerous, urging the State legislators to condemn the comments and begin the impeachment process immediately.

Tenebe accused Governor Obaseki of increasing insecurity in Edo State by arming the Edo State Security Network (ESSN) and Public Work Volunteers (PUWOV) to attack those who oppose his administration. He described Obaseki’s threat as a descent into madness that could lead to anarchy and a breakdown of law and order in both Edo State and Nigeria.

The APC believes the tragic incident at Benin Airport is part of a broader pattern of state-sponsored violence, often disguised as inter-cult fights. The party insists that impeachment is necessary to prevent further dangerous actions from the governor.

The call for impeachment highlights the growing political tension and concerns over security in Edo State. The APC’s allegations, if true, point to serious issues within the state’s administration that need immediate attention.
