Singer Sean Kingston, famous for his hit “Beautiful Girls,” and his mother, Janice Turner, have been charged with fraud. They are accused of tricking businesses out of more than $1 million.
A Grand Jury in Miami has indicted Kingston and Turner on one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and five counts of wire fraud. They allegedly created a scheme to get jewelry, luxury cars, and other expensive items without paying for them.
The indictment claims they lied about sending money transfers to pay for the items, keeping the goods even though the payments never went through. Among the items they allegedly obtained were a $160,000 Cadillac Escalade and $480,000 worth of jewelry.
The fraud reportedly allowed Kingston and Turner to get more than $1 million. They were arrested in May after a raid on Kingston’s Florida mansion and appeared in federal court on Friday, July 19.
If found guilty, they could each face up to 20 years in prison for each of the six charges.
Sean Kingston’s lawyer, Robert Rosenblatt, told TMZ they are ready to fight the charges in court and believe they will win the case.
