Bride Arrested on Her Wedding Day for Murder, Sentenced to 11 Years

Nancy Lizeth Rodriguez Guadarrama didn’t get the chance to cut her wedding cake. As she arrived at the church in her white wedding dress, police were waiting to detain her. The dramatic arrest saw her immediately taken to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, leaving guests in shock.

Rodriguez’s fiancé, Clemente Mendiola Martinez, managed to flee the church before the police could catch him. However, his escape was short-lived. He was found dead in his car in Villa Guerrero, riddled with over 200 bullet casings. Martinez had been a wanted man, known for his role as a hitman for the Familia Michoacana criminal organization.

Rodriguez’s arrest wasn’t without reason. Prosecutors successfully proved her involvement in a violent robbery that occurred in March 2022. The incident saw her and three accomplices—another woman and two men—steal money from a victim in Tenango del Valle. Following a complaint to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Rodriguez was identified and apprehended.

After her arrest on December 3, 2023, Rodriguez was sentenced to 11 years and six months in prison. Her involvement with the Familia Michoacana criminal organization was a key factor in her conviction. The authorities had long been on the trail of this notorious group, and Rodriguez’s arrest marked a significant breakthrough.
