Plateau State Government has confirmed that 22 people died and 132 were injured when a school building collapsed in Jos.
Musa Ashoms, the Commissioner for Information, said six of the injured are in critical condition.
Ashoms mentioned that the injured are being treated in different major hospitals in the state, while the deceased have been taken to the morgue.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the two-storey Saints Academy building in Busa-Buji, Jos North, collapsed, trapping students, teachers, and others.
The building fell around 8:30 am on Friday while students were taking their third term exams.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State called the incident a huge and tragic loss for the state.
In a statement by Mr. Gyang Bere, his Director of Press and Public Affairs, the governor expressed his sympathy for the families affected by the collapse.
Governor Mutfwang described the incident as tragic and unfortunate and appreciated the quick response of the rescue team and the public who helped evacuate survivors.
