The Chief of Staff of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi, Munir Sanusi Bayero, announced on Saturday that there was a fire in the Emir’s palace in Gidan Rumfa. 

He said that on Friday night, at approximately 11 p.m., a fire broke out in the outer court of the palace at Kofar Kudu. 

Fortunately, no one was hurt, and the damage was not great. In an effort to stop similar events in the future, the palace is putting safety precautions in place and looking into what caused the fire. 

Given that the door was locked from the outside, the key was pushed to unlock, and the fire was started, it was thought to be the result of arson. 

But according to Kano State Fire Service spokeswoman Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, they weren’t notified of the event because no call came in.
