A hyena has escaped from its cage at the Jos Wildlife Park, the Management of the Plateau State Tourism Corporation (PSTC) confirmed. In a statement released on Monday, July 8, 2024, in Jos, the PSTC announced the discovery of the missing animal.
The Jos Wildlife Park is one of Plateau’s main tourist attractions and a key site for nature conservation in Nigeria.
The park’s management issued the announcement to protect the public and assist in capturing the escaped hyena.
The statement read,
“Our team of Game-guards and Park-rangers, with the help of drone technology, is currently tracking the hyena,”
“We assure the public that we are doing everything possible to find the animal and return it to its enclosure soon.
“We ask the public to stay calm and avoid approaching the hyena if spotted. Please notify the park authorities immediately at 09026927620 or 09131000945.
“Thank you for your cooperation. We will update the public as soon as the situation is resolved.”
