The misinformation that has been making the rounds on social media over the recent visit of Brigadier General YD Ahmed, the Director General of the Scheme, to the Ogun State Orientation Camp in Sagamu has alarmed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
The NYSC made it clear in a statement issued by Director of Information and Public Relations Eddy Megwa that General Ahmed did not mention that President Tinubu had given his approval for an increase in the allowances of corps members. Rather, General Ahmed stated that once the new minimum pay is authorized, it is expected that corps members will gain from it.
The NYSC made it clear that an increase in corps members’ allowance has not received formal sanction.
The goal of General Ahmed’s visit to the Ogun State Orientation Camp was to inspire and motivate the corps members.
