Seyi Awolowo, a Big Brother Naija star, talked about his challenging upbringing. In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Seyi—the grandson of the late Nigerian nationalist Obafemi Awolowo—spoke candidly about his struggles.

 He disclosed that the complications of growing up in a polygamous household contributed to his father’s repeated disavowal of him. 

According to Seyi, his father had three wives and kept meticulous records on all of his kids, turning their identities into nothing more than lists of names. He related stories of how his father disowned his children in letters, leaving them feeling abandoned and alone.

Said,

“My dad disowned me a couple of times. Not just me, a couple of us, my dad married more than one wife. He married three wives. We all have files. As of right now, your name is just Seyi, full stop,”
