A young housewife, Zainab Isa, aged 22, has been arrested by Yobe State Police for allegedly stabbing her husband to death.

The incident was confirmed by Dungus Abdulkarim, the Police Public Relations Officer, in a statement issued in Damaturu, the state’s capital.

The police report states that Zainab stabbed her 25-year-old husband, Ibrahim Yahaya, during an argument in their home at Abbari ward.

Zainab confessed during the investigation that she did not mean to kill her husband but acted in self-defense as he was beating her while she was still recovering from childbirth.

She claimed that her husband was abusive and had been physically attacking her even after her recent medical operation.

The police expressed sorrow over the tragic event and highlighted the dangers of abusive relationships, noting that the couple’s fight, which began around 9:00 am, ended with Zainab stabbing her husband in the chest. He succumbed to the injury before police arrived.
