Fire has broken out at the Dangote Refinery in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.
Explosions were heard on Wednesday, followed by a major fire at the refinery located in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State.
As of now, the Dangote group has not yet commented on the fire incident.
Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, recently revealed he overcame strong resistance from both local and foreign groups before establishing the $19 billion refinery.
Dangote mentioned that powerful groups in the oil sector, stronger than those in the drug trade, tried to sabotage the refinery project.
Speaking at a recent event in the Bahamas, Dangote admitted he didn’t expect the level of resistance he faced.
Recently, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah of Anambra South stated that Dangote’s refinery will help reduce the price of petroleum products in Nigeria.
Ubah explained that once Nigerian refineries are fully operational, fuel prices will drop.
