Ogun Pregnant Woman Fakes Abduction, Found in Kwara – Police Report Details

A woman who was thought to have been kidnapped while heading to a hospital to give birth has been found in Ilorin, Kwara State, after faking her own abduction due to fear.

Last week, reports surfaced that Raheemat Lateef had been kidnapped in Abeokuta, Ogun State. She was supposedly on her way to the State General Hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta, to deliver her baby when she was allegedly taken.

Her husband, Ogunbunmi Lateef, notified the police in Abeokuta about the supposed kidnapping.

Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola provided an update on the case on Monday, stating that Raheemat was found in Kwara State with her father. The Anti-kidnapping unit had been tracking her until she resurfaced.

However, on Monday, June 24, the police revealed that Raheemat had actually fled to Kwara State to avoid her husband’s anger after suffering a miscarriage.

Frustrated by multiple miscarriages, Raheemat concocted the kidnapping story.

“She made up the kidnapping story and traveled to Kwara State herself. She was not kidnapped. After having another miscarriage, frustrated by the repeated occurrences, and fearing her husband’s reaction, she created the scenario. The anti-kidnapping team tracked her until she resurfaced.”
