Donald Trump plans to give automatic Green Cards to Nigerians and other international students who finish college in the US if he becomes President.

Trump shared this idea in his new immigration plan called ‘Build America Visa’. This is a big change from his usual strict immigration policies, focusing on keeping talented people in the US.

Every year, the US hands out about 1.1 million Green Cards.

Trump said he wants a new system that protects American wages, supports American values, and brings in the best and brightest from around the world.

He added that he thinks graduates should get a Green Card automatically when they receive their diplomas. This would apply to all college graduates and those with doctorates from US schools.

Trump is set to run against the current President, Joe Biden, in the US presidential election on November 5, 2024.

He said,

“What I would like is a new legal immigration system that protects American wages, promotes American values, and attracts the best and brightest from all around the world.”
 
He added, “What I will do is you graduate from college, I think you should get automatically as part of your diploma a Green Card to be able to stay in this country.”
