Nigeria’s Super Eagles have fallen by eight positions in the latest FIFA rankings, as reported by the Federation of International Football Federation (FIFA) on Thursday.
The three-time champions of Africa slipped from the 30th position to the 38th in the FIFA rankings.
In the previous FIFA rankings, the Super Eagles had already dropped two places.
The decline in rankings is attributed to the team’s disappointing outcomes in the recent qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup
During these qualifiers, the West African team drew 1-1 with South Africa at home and suffered a 2-1 loss to Benin Republic.
Despite the drop, the Super Eagles remain among the top five teams in Africa.
Morocco leads as the highest-ranked African country, followed by Senegal in second place, with Egypt and Cote d’Ivoire occupying the third and fourth spots respectively.
