According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity Ajuri Ngelale, the President said this in Lagos on Monday, June 17, when he received a delegation from the National Assembly who came to felicitate with him on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir.

As per a statement from his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu made these remarks in Lagos on June 17th, during a visit from the National Assembly delegation celebrating Eid-el-Kabir.

While admitting that there is poverty and suffering in the land, President Tinubu said the challenges must be tackled.

Acknowledging the presence of poverty and suffering, President Tinubu emphasized the necessity of addressing these challenges.

The President said

“Yes, there is poverty; there is suffering in the land. We are not the only people facing such, but we must face our challenges.

We must find a way to eliminate banditry and terrorism so that farmers can bring out food from the farmland. If you do not have good roads to bring the food to the population, even if you grow the food and you are losing 60-70 per cent to damages, you will pay the price,”

The President affirmed the existence of poverty and suffering, stressing the need to combat issues like banditry and terrorism to enable farmers to harvest food effectively. He highlighted the impact of inadequate infrastructure on food distribution.

He challenged citizens to have a change of mindset about Nigeria if the nation is to overcome its current challenges.

President Tinubu urged citizens to adopt a new perspective on Nigeria to address ongoing challenges effectively.

He emphasized the importance of shifting from a rent-seeking mentality to enhancing productivity for economic growth, condemning activities such as smuggling and economic sabotage.

“The need (for some citizens) to change the rent-seeking mindset and become more productive to the economy is a challenge.

The need to stop smuggling and all economic sabotage. Why should we have people removing rail tracks and all that, stealing electric cables and sabotaging the economy?
