As Nigerians observe Democracy Day on June 12, many citizens protested the country’s current conditions.
The protesters took to the streets to express their frustration with hunger and economic struggles.
In Lagos, demonstrators in Ikeja called for President Bola Tinubu’s administration to step down.
They cited the severe economic hardship, stating that “Nigerians can’t comfortably feed their families under Tinubu.”
Protesters held signs with messages like ‘President Tinubu, let the poor breathe’ and ‘Reverse all anti-people, neoliberal privatization policies’.
One protester shared on X, “We are protesting under Ikeja Bridge against the oppressive government of @officialABAT. We are hungry and angry. #WeAreHungryProtest #June12Protest.”
Similarly, in Abuja, protesters gathered under the Berger Bridge to voice their discontent with the Tinubu administration.
