American Military Veterans of Igbo descent have urged the immediate release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The group is upset that Kanu remains in detention even though a competent court has ordered his release.
This follows a visit by the American Military Veterans of Igbo Descent to the U.S. State Department, where they pointed out that Nigerian authorities have ignored both local and international court rulings, as well as United Nations opinions that support Kanu’s release.
Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu’s legal adviser, noted that the visit demonstrated solidarity with the Igbo community and called for the State Department to step in regarding Kanu’s case.
The veterans are working to highlight Kanu’s situation, emphasizing human rights issues and the need for justice.
