A panel of three judges from the Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal has mandated that Multichoice Nigeria must provide one month of free subscription to users of their DStv and GOtv services.
The tribunal also imposed a fine of N150 million on Multichoice for questioning the court’s authority. The court had earlier stopped Multichoice from raising the prices of its DStv and GOtv packages.
The ruling, delivered by Justice Thomas Okosu’s panel, took place on Friday in Abuja.
In May, Multichoice Nigeria increased the subscription fees for its DStv and GOtv services despite the tribunal’s order not to do so.
Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal (CCPT) has previously prohibited Multichoice Nigeria from raising its subscription fees and the cost of products and services starting May first
