China has implemented new regulations prohibiting celebrities from flaunting their wealth on social media as part of a broader effort to regulate the entertainment industry.
The Cyberspace Administration of China announced that celebrities can no longer display wealth or extravagant lifestyles online.
The new rules also restrict celebrities from sharing false or private information, inciting fan conflicts, and spreading rumors.
According to Business Insider, both celebrities’ and fans’ social media accounts must uphold public order and proper customs, support socialist values, and maintain a tasteful and healthy style.
