The Kano State Police Command has announced that it will follow a court order preventing the appointment of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the Emir of Kano. During a press briefing on Saturday, May 25, the Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Usaini Gumel, confirmed that the police will maintain the current situation until the court gives its decision on June 3, 2024.

Gumel stated

We are complying with the court order that the status quo must be maintained until the court gives its judgment,”

The police have also promised to take action against anyone who tries to harass the Emirs in charge of the five emirates.

Additionally, the police commissioner clarified that they have not received any official order from the state governor to arrest Emir Aminu Ado Bayero. He noted that this information was only seen on social media.
