Nigerian Army Transfers 277 Boko Haram Captives to Borno Government, Urges Others to Surrender
The Borno State Government received 277 persons rescued from Boko Haram captivity on Thursday, July 11, from the Nigerian Army. Borno State’s capital, Maiduguri, hosted the handover ceremony in Maimalari Cantonment. Major General Ken Chigbu, the Joint Task Force North-East’s Deputy Theatre Commander, oversaw the event. The rescued people were innocent citizens who had been caught in the state’s local government areas of Dikwa, Bama, and Monguno by the insurgency, Chigbu revealed during the ceremony.
