Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate for the Labour Party, has voiced his distress over the declining condition of Nigerian roads. Obi recently undertook a journey from Ekpoma to Benin in Edo State, a trip that used to be straightforward but now faces significant delays due to worsening road conditions.
Obi’s trip from Onitsha to Igarra took six and a half hours instead of the usual time, and the journey from Auchi to Ekpoma was extended by an hour and a half due to poor roads. These delays were compounded by numerous accidents along the way.
In a social media update, Obi expressed his deep frustration, questioning how Nigeria’s roads have deteriorated to such an extent. His experience highlighted a broader issue with infrastructure and safety, prompting him to reflect on the lack of concern from both leaders and the public.
