Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has said steady funding and support for the education sector are beginning to show clear results, especially at the basic education level. He made this known while presiding over a Basic Education Stakeholders’ Roundtable Meeting held at the Government House in Dutse, where progress in the sector was reviewed.
The governor explained that recent outcomes across schools show that government spending, combined with the support of donor agencies and development partners, is making a real difference. According to him, improvements seen in classrooms, data management, and learning outcomes reflect the impact of sustained collaboration between the state government and its partners.
Governor Namadi praised development partners for their continued commitment to improving education in Jigawa State and assured them of the government’s full support. He also promised that recommendations from the meeting would be carefully reviewed and integrated into future education plans and policies where necessary.
Speaking at the meeting, the Commissioner for Basic Education, Dr. Lawal Yunusa Danzomo, said the gathering brought together key stakeholders involved in education delivery and data coordination. He noted that recent assessments show progress in school enrolment, pupil retention, transition, and completion rates, as well as improvements in teacher recruitment, training, attendance, and performance. He attributed these gains to strong political will and inclusive leadership under Governor Namadi’s administration.
