The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State has redeployed an officer from Fagge area following the death of a volunteer attached to the command. The decision was taken after public concern grew over the circumstances surrounding the volunteer’s death, which is currently under investigation. The NSCDC said the redeployment is part of steps to ensure fairness and allow a transparent inquiry.
According to the command, the officer was moved out of Fagge to prevent any interference with the investigation and to maintain public confidence. The corps also assured residents that it is committed to uncovering the truth behind the incident and holding anyone found responsible accountable. The volunteer’s death has continued to attract attention from civil society groups and local leaders.
The Kano State NSCDC Command expressed sympathy to the family of the deceased volunteer and promised to cooperate fully with other security agencies involved in the probe. Officials said the matter is being treated with seriousness and professionalism, stressing that the corps does not tolerate abuse or misconduct within its ranks.
Residents of Fagge and surrounding communities have called for justice and better protection for volunteers working with security agencies. They urged authorities to strengthen monitoring systems and improve welfare for volunteers to prevent similar incidents in the future.
