Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State has engaged with security agencies following reports that US airstrikes mistakenly hit one of the local government areas in the state. The governor emphasized the need for accurate intelligence and prompt response to protect residents.
Speaking during consultations with military and police officials, Tambuwal urged authorities to ensure civilian safety and to prevent similar incidents in the future. He stressed the importance of coordinated operations between local, state, and international forces.
The airstrikes, initially targeting terrorist hideouts, reportedly affected some residential areas, raising concerns among local communities. Tambuwal assured residents that the government is closely monitoring the situation and will provide necessary support to the affected families.
He also called on residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies. Tambuwal highlighted the state government’s commitment to preventing terrorism while safeguarding civilians during military operations.
