The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested several suspected drug dealers and recovered more than 4,600 illegal drugs during a recent operation across parts of the state. The command said the arrests were part of its ongoing efforts to reduce crime and protect residents from the dangers of drug abuse.
Police officials explained that the operation was intelligence-led and targeted known drug hotspots. The suspects were found in possession of various illicit substances, which were immediately seized as evidence. The police said investigations are ongoing and more arrests may follow.
The command warned that drug-related crimes contribute to insecurity, violence and social problems, especially among young people. It urged parents, community leaders and schools to work together with security agencies to discourage drug abuse and report suspicious activities.
Residents have been advised to remain vigilant and support the police by providing useful information. The police assured the public that they are committed to keeping Jigawa safe and will continue their crackdown on drug trafficking and abuse.
