Reno Omokri warns Nigerians against replicating the revolution happening in Nepal

Reno Omokri has cautioned Nigerians not to imitate the ongoing revolution in Nepal.

He reminded the public of the massive destruction that took place during the EndSARS protest in October 2020, pointing out that Lagos State suffered huge economic losses.

He explained that important facilities, including Africa’s best forensic laboratory, were set on fire during the protests.

This same lab could have been used for singer Mohbad’s autopsy, but because it was destroyed, the procedure had to be carried out in the United States, which embarrassed Nigeria internationally.

Omokri added that more than 80 BRT buses, courthouses, and police stations were also burnt, with the Organised Private Sector estimating that Lagos lost about $305 million.

He criticized the fact that many of those who pushed for the protest were not from Lagos and did not even pay taxes there. Instead, they came from states with worse governance but left their own states untouched while Lagos was heavily damaged.

He also recalled how last year’s “Days of Rage” protest caused damages worth ₦200 billion in Northern Nigeria and nearly destabilized the country.

According to him, some agitators even displayed Russian flags to promote a coup similar to what happened in Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger.

Speaking further, Omokri said Nigeria is a much better-governed country than Nepal. Having visited Nepal himself, he stressed that Nigeria enjoys more political stability and is making economic progress.

He pointed out that Nigeria is the only African nation where five former presidents and heads of state live peacefully and continue to work with the sitting president through the Council of State.

Omokri also highlighted that under President Bola Tinubu, Nigeria’s economy has grown by $67 billion in just two years, moving from ₦269.29 trillion in May 2023 to ₦372.8 trillion today.

He concluded by advising Nigerians that if they still feel protests are necessary despite the signs of progress, they should begin such actions in their own states of origin rather than destroying Lagos again.
