Sophia Momodu Responds to Davido’s Joint Custody Request

Sophia Momodu has taken legal action in response to Davido’s request for joint custody of their daughter. She filed a counter affidavit to address the claims made by the popular Nigerian musician in his lawsuit.

In June 2024, Davido filed a lawsuit seeking joint custody and unrestricted access to their daughter, Imade. He claimed that Momodu demanded he pay the nanny she hired a monthly salary of $800, which amounts to $19,600 annually, an amount he found excessive. Davido also accused Momodu of treating him cruelly and causing him emotional distress.

In her response, Sophia outlines her concerns and reasons for opposing the joint custody arrangement. This legal move marks a significant step in the ongoing custody battle between the two parents, who are both well-known figures in Nigeria.

She clarified that she never denied him access to their daughter but only denied him access to her body, which led to Davido cutting off contact with their daughter. Momodu’s legal team, consisting of Dr. Anthony Idigbe SAN of Punuka Attorneys and Dr. Bimpe Ajegbomogun, filed a counter affidavit on April 17, 2024. The affidavit, bearing suit number LD/1587PMC/2024, officially marks the start of their legal battle over Imade’s custody.
