Yuki Gambaryan, the wife of detained Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan, has made a heartfelt plea to Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to dismiss the charges against her husband.

In April, the EFCC brought charges against Binance Holdings Limited, a prominent cryptocurrency firm, and its executive Tigran Gambaryan, accusing them of involvement in money laundering activities. The charges were presented before Judge Emeka Nwite at the federal high court in Abuja on April 8, with a total of five counts.

On June 14, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) decided to withdraw its tax-related charges against Gambaryan, a significant development in the case.

In a public statement released on Tuesday, July 2, Yuki Gambaryan implored the EFCC to emulate FIRS’s decision and drop the charges, highlighting the severe impact of her husband’s ongoing detention on their family.

She stated,

“He is enduring immense suffering due to this injustice. I respectfully ask the EFCC to follow the precedent set by FIRS and drop the charges against Tigran,”

Yuki emphasized that Tigran was never a key decision-maker at Binance, and the evidence presented in court supports this. She argued that there is no valid reason for his continued detention.

she added,

“It is time for the Nigerian authorities to act justly and release my innocent husband. This ordeal has been prolonged for too long,”

Yuki also voiced concerns about Tigran’s deteriorating health while in custody, mentioning that he has been experiencing numbness in his foot and persistent back pain.

Yuki revealed.

“He has suffered from double pneumonia and malaria during his imprisonment,” 

She further noted that the federal high court in Abuja has ordered the Kuje correctional facility to provide Tigran’s medical records, including details of his June 3 hospital visit, to his legal team.

The next hearing for the trial has been scheduled for July 5.
