Neymar Jr will not be playing for Brazil in their 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Argentina. The 33-year-old forward was initially included in the squad, but reports from Globo say he is not fit enough due to a thigh injury.
Earlier this year, Neymar left Al-Hilal to join Santos in hopes of reviving his career. Since returning to Brazil, he has scored three goals and provided three assists in seven matches. His good form has even sparked rumors of interest from Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
However, for now, Neymar will have to wait for another chance to play for the national team.
Other changes in the Brazil squad include the withdrawal of Flamengo right-back Danilo and Manchester City goalkeeper Éderson. Their replacements are Real Madrid’s Endrick, Flamengo defender Alex Sandro, and Lyon goalkeeper Lucas Perri.
Brazil will face Argentina in a crucial qualifier, but they will have to do it without Neymar.
