In a disturbing incident in Masvingo, an 18-year-old student, Peter, has been arrested for kidnapping his 10-year-old neighbor, Tawana. Peter, a Form 4 student at Vision Academy, allegedly intended to use the boy for a money ritual.
Tawana was missing for three days before police investigations led to Peter’s arrest. During questioning, Peter confessed that he planned to take Tawana to clients in Chipinge who had requested a child’s head for ritual purposes. He stated, “When I took this child, they told me to find a head and bring it.”
A video of the confession captures the heartbreaking scene as Tawana’s grandmother cries in despair. Tawana’s mother confronts Peter with anger and disbelief, demanding answers for his actions. “So, you wanted to sacrifice my child? Did you really plan to do this?” she questions, expressing her shock and grief.
In the same video, Tawana’s mother scolds him for not heeding warnings about befriending older individuals like Peter. “We always warned you not to play with this older guy. Look what he wanted to do—he wanted to get you killed,” she tells him.
This horrific incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, raising urgent concerns about the safety of children and the trustworthiness of people around them. Many parents are left wondering how to protect their children from such dangers.
The community is calling for more awareness and vigilance to ensure that children are safe from predators. This tragic event serves as a reminder of the importance of being aware of who our children interact with.
