Lagos Task Force Seizes 82 Illegal Motorcycles

The Lagos State Task Force recently impounded 82 commercial motorcycles, commonly known as Okadas, for operating in restricted areas of the city. These seizures are part of a broader effort to enforce traffic laws in Lagos and ensure the safety of all road users.

Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Adetayo Akerele, who leads the Task Force, explained that these motorcycles were taken from operators during operations in various locations, including Berger, Mile 2 Oke, and Orile.

The Task Force is committed to stopping illegal motorcycle operations in the city. CSP Akerele stated that both riders and passengers found violating the ban will face legal consequences. This ongoing enforcement aims to uphold state traffic laws and improve road safety for everyone.

Akerele said: “Passengers on Okada are as guilty as the riders. If caught, they will face the full weight of the law alongside the riders,” he warned.

“The Lagos State Taskforce remains committed to enforcing the law and ensuring that Lagos roads remain safe and motorable for the public.

“Residents are encouraged to adhere to the regulations, as these efforts are in place to protect the lives and property of all residents.

“All 82 impounded motorcycles will be forfeited to the State Government through the court.”
