Boko Haram Fighter Surrenders to Troops, Surrendering AK-47 and Ammunition

A Boko Haram terrorist named Bochu Abacha has surrendered to the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in Kukawa, Borno State. This news was shared on September 28 by Lt. Col. Olaniyi Osaba, the Chief Military Information Officer of the MNJTF. Abacha, a significant figure in several terrorist attacks along the Mongunu-Baga route, decided to give himself up due to the strong military operations against Boko Haram and his growing disinterest in their activities.

Upon surrendering, Abacha handed over an AK-47 rifle, a magazine containing 11 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, a mobile phone, an Airtel SIM card, and cash totaling N32,500. He is now cooperating with the military and providing crucial intelligence.

In a separate operation, MNJTF troops worked alongside intelligence operatives to ambush Boko Haram fighters who were transporting large supplies in three Toyota trucks under the cover of night. The troops engaged in a fierce gun battle, which resulted in the death of one terrorist and caused the others to flee, leaving behind their supplies. The recovered items included three trucks loaded with various food items and N2,000.

This recent surrender and successful operation highlight the ongoing efforts of the MNJTF to combat terrorism in the region.
