Mogadishu, Somalia – February 10, 2026 – A Starsky Aviation aircraft made an emergency beach landing near Mogadishu’s Aden Abdulle International Airport on Tuesday, with all 55 people on board safely evacuated.
The Fokker 50 had departed from Mogadishu en route to the northern city of Gaalkacyo when it experienced a technical issue approximately 15 minutes into the flight.
The pilot attempted to return to the airport, but the aircraft overshot the runway and came to rest on the shoreline of a nearby beach along the Indian Ocean.All 50 passengers and five crew members exited the plane safely.
A rescue team confirmed that everyone on board was accounted for, according to Somalia’s Transportation Minister Mohamed Farah Nuh.Photos from the scene showed the aircraft largely intact, though at least one wing was damaged.
Starsky Aviation CEO Ahmed Nur confirmed the runway overrun, stating: “No injuries, no deaths.”The Somali Civil Aviation Authority reported that the incident occurred at 1:17 p.m. local time (10:17 a.m. UK time).
The aircraft, registered 60-YAS, was promptly attended to, and all passengers and crew were taken to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation.
“No fatalities have been reported,” the Authority said in an official statement.
