The Labour Party, LP, has raised serious concerns over what it described as a plan to manipulate the forthcoming local government elections in Ebonyi State. The party warned that any attempt to undermine the will of voters would be strongly resisted.
In a statement issued by party officials, LP accused unnamed political actors of making moves that could compromise the credibility of the polls. According to the party, such actions threaten democracy and could deny residents the chance to freely choose their leaders at the grassroots level.
The party leadership said it is fully mobilising its members, supporters, and legal teams to monitor the election process closely. It stressed that it would not hesitate to challenge any irregularities through lawful and peaceful means, insisting that votes must count.
Labour Party also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies to remain neutral and uphold electoral laws. The party urged voters in Ebonyi to stay alert, participate peacefully, and defend their democratic rights during the local government elections.
