Troops neutralise over 30 terrorists, repatriate 700 refugees in one week – DHQ

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced that Nigerian troops neutralised more than 30 terrorists during military operations carried out across different parts of the country within one week. The operations, according to the military, were part of ongoing efforts to improve security and protect communities affected by insurgency and banditry.

In addition to the security gains, the armed forces also successfully repatriated about 700 Nigerian refugees who had been displaced by conflict. The refugees were safely returned from neighbouring countries and reunited with their communities, following coordinated efforts involving security agencies and humanitarian partners.

The DHQ said the operations targeted terrorist hideouts and disrupted their activities, leading to arrests, recoveries of weapons, and the destruction of logistics routes. Military authorities stressed that sustained pressure on criminal groups has continued to weaken their ability to operate freely.

Reaffirming its commitment to national security, the military assured Nigerians that operations would continue until peace is restored in all affected areas. The DHQ also encouraged citizens to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information to help end terrorism across the country.
