The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction loyal to former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has appointed a caretaker committee for Plateau State as part of efforts to reorganise its structures ahead of the 2027 political cycle. The move aims to stabilise party operations and prepare for upcoming elections.
The 13-member committee is chaired by Dr. Gideon Nandem Tyem, with Goje A. Hirfo serving as Secretary. The committee has been tasked with managing the party’s affairs in Plateau State and ensuring smooth operations during the transition period. The appointments are in line with constitutional provisions empowering the National Caretaker Working Committee (NCWC) to oversee state chapters temporarily.
The restructuring is a key part of the PDP faction’s rebuilding strategy, with the caretaker committee responsible for stabilising internal structures and guiding the party through the transitional phase. The arrangement is temporary, allowing the faction to form fresh state executive committees once the transition is complete.
According to the statement issued by NCWC National Publicity Secretary Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, the tenure of the caretaker committees is set for 30 days, or until a new executive committee is formally elected. The new chairmen and secretaries are expected to assume their responsibilities immediately as the reorganisation begins.
