Sowore, Buhari’s ex-aide fume as Boko Haram kills 162 Nigerians in Kwara

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore and Bashir Ahmad, a former media aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, have strongly condemned the killing of residents in Woro community, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State. The deadly attack, which reportedly claimed at least 162 lives, has sparked national outrage. Both men described the incident as shocking and unacceptable.

Sowore, in a post shared on X, alleged that the victims were killed during a violent attack carried out by a terrorist group locals identified as “Memuda.” He accused security agencies of failing to act on warnings from the community. According to him, residents had raised alarm before the attack, but no security presence was deployed to protect them.

He further claimed that the village head had earlier informed authorities after the attackers allegedly said they were coming to “preach.” Despite this warning, Sowore said the community was left unguarded and exposed when the attackers eventually struck, leading to massive loss of lives.

Bashir Ahmad also described the killings as beyond imagination, saying no words were enough to express the horror of the act. He called for full justice for the victims and severe punishment for those responsible. The Kwara State government has confirmed the attack, while President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the deployment of military personnel to restore security in the affected area.
